Jay, negativity aspects aside, you did a stellar job in orchestrating yet another enjoyable ride. Tried to flip a u-turn after the Loop Rd incident to warn the following pack to go dead slow (locals were super pissed by the time I arrived on scene a bit hot), but was about 10 seconds too late to park and get out on foot.

I found a middle group that was going along at a decent pace, with respectable distances between cars.

Might I recommend something that our two-wheeled brothers implement:
- introduce hand signals (point by for passing without a dotted line--prolonged left signal to request a point by)
- 2 "self-policers" on walkie talkies to spot problematic drivers (one middle, one tailgunner)
- recommend that the quicker/aggressive drivers start either at the front or back
- recommend reasonable speeds when driving through a small off-the-map towns--locals didn't seem to enjoy our peel-out trains after a stop sign (being in the middle of the pack, I noticed a tonne of "asshole" comments from locals--responding mostly to a loud car in front peeling out

I enjoyed it very much, as did my copilot. Map was super helpful, no changes needed there.

Jay I wasn't able to make it out to the spring cruise but I appreciate the effort you put into these events. Keep up the great work!
To the guy who crashed the E46 M3 I suggest you take some driving lessons and get a slower car. There is crash data stored on the airbag module in your car which the insurance company will retrive. Get ready for that stunt driving ticket.

ive never seen insurance companies pull that kind of diagnostic information, and even if they did, and they could somehow determine fault conclusively, how would an insurance company issue you a ticket? i think your imagination is getting the better of you.

Insurance companys often take the data from the airbag module. I'm not saying it'll say who is at fault but the data shows speed, steering angle, G forces etc prior and during the collision.

I know someone who crashed an e46 m3. When I hooked up my computer to it with bmw scanner 1.4.0 there was crash data stored.

I have never heard of an insurance company doing this in the case of a non-lethal accident. the insurance company is on the hook anyway, even if the accident was a result of negligence, so this would be a complete waste of time.

also that still doesn't mean anyone's going to get a ticket for it. the cop could've written up a careless after the fact just because he rear ended someone, but didn't, and at this point, wont.

You've got nothing whatsoever to apologize for Jay! I knew it was a long shot when I messaged you, but I really didn't want to miss another cruise due to work and location. I really appreciate everything you do to keep our community together.

Damon and his girlfriend really helped me out, and I was able to join up with part of the cruise for about an hour or so. Thanks again Damon! I wasn't able to meet up with you in person, but I will definitely do so if you're at Bimmercruise.

With all of that said, I specifically avoided bringing any of the cars in my signature due to highly questionable driving I've seen in the past, and it's frustrating that it's still continuing. I think the only way to deal with this is to police this ourselves: when any of us see someone driving like a jackass we signal with something like three quick honks of the horn, which means we all pull over when it's safe to do so (if we all had radios it would be much easier); the offending driver(s) either get asked to leave the group or warned, depending on the severity of their actions (and witnesses would be required).

Anyone refusing to leave the group gets put to a vote, and if the majority rules in favour their plates are reported by us to the O.P.P. for careless driving.

This would be a pain in the arse as we would definitely end up stopping a few times, but it would clean out the idiots pretty quickly and smarten up anyone who might otherwise do something stupid. It would make the vast majority of the cruise much safer and more enjoyable, too.

I don't think we've met with the member above I am quoting, but I am inclined to say the same thing. Been reading the cruise threads, and for some reason something problematic always happens. Reluctant to bring my son along just because of this. And I know he would love it.
