It's not that serious, you can come if you insist. In your shoes I'd be more concerned with everyone else knowing your driving resume and the subsequent attention it's drawn. Complaints = home time, try to stay under the radar.

I know, but the way he'd worded it, especially with the "Sorry Damon" made it seem as though although he wasn't forbidding me to attend, I wouldn't really be truly welcome at the event.

Is there any chance I could get the points at which we enter and exit any 400-series highways so I can plan to safely exchange positions with my dad?
The day is booked off at work, my car should be all ready this week and I'm excited! I'll be taking lots of pictures/video with my DSLR as well as my dash cam, which will be recording throughout the entire drive.

The route is usually kept under wraps until the morning of the day and maps are handed out on the spot.
Guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

Ahh, I see. I'm sure we'll manage, although knowing in advance would help a bit to see where we could safely exchange. The last thing I'd want to do is end up exchanging on or near an on-ramp to a highway! No worries if I can't get it in advance, though. I'm sure we'll have a little bit of time to read through the directions before departing.
The good part about my dad having to drive on the highway is that it will give me an opportunity to take some rolling shots!
