Sears has them, but it might be special order. You can also use the SAE equivilent, but I forgot the size off hand (search BF.com). It'll cost you about $30

From what I found, SAE equivilant is 1 - 13/16. (equivilent to 1.8125 inch where 46mm is equivilant to 1.811018).
I could be off though...

That's as close as you're going to get. Have you tried online sources for that socket?

Princess Auto? They sometimes have huge/odd stuff, and not overly expensive. I got a metric allen socket set for the trans/diff fill/drain plugs, and it was just $25 for a 8 or 10 piece set.

almost every bmw needs a 36mm socket like E30 and E36 .
i did bought one today for the wheel hub at canadian tire for about 12$

i have one... lol i work in a truck shop so yah... snap on should have one 100%.. at crappy tire the biggest ive seen is 36mm.
