E-brake shoes

I was just woundering if anyone has changed there own e-brake
shoes on a e46, is it something you can do your self or should i take it to bmw. "BUDDS"

you might need some special tools, or you'll have a hard time getting the springs on, some brake shoes are pretty easy, but I notice on european cars it tend to be a little tricky

shoes as in, from drums...

Ebrakes use drums...

I think I know what you are saying but doesn't describe it the best
drums are a type of brakes, you can have rotors & still have E-brake just like all the modern cars now, the E-brake is in the hat or the rotor on the rear

Any one know a good DIY site for changing them, I looked into it on google but no luck, I changed them on a mustang but would like a video for some tips

You do not really need a write up. Jack car up and just do one side at a time. Using one side as reference. You will need needle nose pliers, slotted screwdriver, band aids and maybe some of your favorite intoxication since the first side is always a pain in the ass.

All drum systems are pretty much the same.

special tools would make it easier but not required. A little ingenuity and creativity will help you get through. I've done enough with wise grips, pliers, etc. the parts to remove consist primarily of two things which can become a PITA. upper and lower shoe retaining pin springs and the horizontal springs keeping the shoes together. As mentioned do one side at a time to use as a reference and to not forget. remember to adjust the star wheel once the rotor is back on. the proper way to do this is turn the adjuster fully to lock position so the rotor can't move. Then start backing it away until you get some resistance and rotor begins to move. there needs to be some resistance for the shoes to grab and seat. Drive the car around and pull up on the handle a few times. then try it to see if it holds in neutral.
