only 4 psi? Can you not program motronic to retard
(i ditched my stock L-Jet ECU.. its damn useless under boost)

You should be fine with that kind of boost. I do suggest you start off smaller, like 5psi.. then get the wastegate modified to allow greater boost.

if so change first the wastegate for one that activates in low boost... I recomend you put a copper head gasket ( look for BMWárt replacement ) it's about 2.05mm and it should drop your compression to 8.5:1 or so....when you do that..find a set of head stud bolts, for a stronger ones..the OEM can't handle that press, it's wear. there is a page whos sells a kit CNC stud bolts for our M20.. I think it's www.raceware.com or something like that...that is what I will do once I change my head gasket and turn the boost more..
Do you have pic of that Nice T4?

re: diegom6
About the wastegate I buy the spring who go inside the first 0 to 3 psi ,the second 4 to 7 psi, the tird 8 to 10 psi , the last one 11 to 13 psi and after i need a boost control.
for the head gasket i read in article ,when he was in good shape it.s ok for the boost i wont because i rebuilt my head last winter.
for the compression i read also in the same article with 9:1 i'm ok for 15psi or less. But I think the next winter i put a lower compression copper head gasket and an upgrade of all my turbo kit.. But for this winter i make a basic turbo kit.
I'm sorry i didnt have pics of my T4.
wich intercooler do you use and tale some information about IC
thank you
Dave

So for a basic turbo setup to run a steady 5Psi on a stock M20 (My car is a 1989 525i with stock 8.8:1 compression) what would you need other than:
Exhaust manifold (custom make one, or use 324td or 524td manifold $?)
Turbo (Garret T-25 turbo from an eclipse, used $120)

turbo timer (Used HKS HKS Turbo Timer Type 1 $100)
Blow-off Valve (turboXS BOV, $200 new $100 used)
Boost gauge ($5 used)
Fuel Management Unit (Cartech FMU, $160 used)
Besides piping and possibly bigger injectors, what is missing? would you need an intercooler (Greddy universal FMIC $250) for a small boost application?
