New BMW E60 owner

Hi guys,

I signed up last week and have had a chance to go through some threads and found out some really neat info. I am picking up a 2009 535i xdrive on Thursday and I had a couple of questions.

1) should I get the 5 series Bentley manual and the OBD-II code scanner? I'm a little paranoid about reliability and coming from Japs I want to make sure I know what's going on with my vehicle.

2) I've read conflicting reports on Remote Starters...I've had one on every car I've owned and I love them. But I've read BMW doesn't recommend starters at all due to EWS issues? Should I get one? And if so what brand or where to do the install? I'd rather not go through a dealer if I don't have to.

3) last, the dealer was pushing for me to buy a rust protection module that attaches to the battery. Is this a good idea? Sounds like a good theoretical application but does anyone have experience with these on their own cars?

Thank you,
I'm glad I found a community near Toronto, these sites do help newbies learn about their cars. Can't wait to pick up my new ride
