It's been quiet around here lately....
Who's got some E30 projects on the go this winter? We need some build threads to entertain us through the winter (and by we, and us I really mean I, and me lol)
I'm about to start a little project, but it'll be a little while until I have enough to start a build thread.
There's an RB swap going on... anything else?

How come no build thread for your stroker build?

Hey Steve, what ever happened with your front control arms you had fabbed up awhile back? Did you ever get around to trying them out?

Yeah, turns out it wasn't even a 413 dme, it was a 506 lol! Crazy chip in it, revs past 7k... surely hits 7100-7200, but holy fack it chugs gas like mad! I need to get a chip from MarkD, but neither of our schedules line up in the immediate future
And yes, by 'real fun' I mean I want to break into high 30s at Mosport with this car. Full interior and all

I never did finish that project, it's currently sitting in a box in my basement. I'm more or less waiting until my E30 becomes a 'track only' vehicle to finish up that project. I'd need to install steering limiters into the rack and I don't want to run them on the street.
Don't worry I'll try them out eventually, I wouldn't go through all the trouble of building them if I wasn't going to use them .
Some dude in California actually pm'ed me recently, he wanted to build a set for his car and was asking if he could buy the drawings off of me. I told him that he could have them for free as long as he was just making a set for his car and not to sell to people. I'm curious to see what he comes up with because there was a fair bit of machining involved as well as some legit welding. If I had to pay a shop to machine the parts I would have just went with a 1 piece CNC'ed body (aka DTM design)

Because very slow. I just bought a new house and have been travelling a lot for work.
At least I have my own heated shop, and once all of the house is unpacked and cleaned up, I can move the touring in and get to work!

ooooh good choice!
M50 swaps suck unless you're putting a little breeze in it!
Well for me I've been a bit quiet in terms of E30. I am focusing more on getting the 330 zhp E46 i've always wanted.
My E30 is broken at the moment...the control arm ripped out fully...so I am probably just going to get another 4 door shell since mine is all ****ed up. Transfer all the goods over, get a proper tune for the obd 1 m52...I don't have any reason to really do more to the E30 since i got my motorcycle.
Meh, I may even part it out I do not know...
but thats where I stand at the moment, unlessssssss I turbo it which is not likely.

I have a 90 325is sitting in the driveway waiting on a 5 spd swap, just working on getting all new bushings and thinking of a lightened flywheel while I am in there.
looking into ordering a full set of condor bushings for the car, and possibly an e46 rack swap
other then that all non-essential bits will be stripped out.

I'm going to be starting my LNF swap soon. I think the front subframe may have to be modified.
I'll probably swap the steering rack while everything is out of the way, if anyone has an e36/46 one sitting around I'd be interested.

I've got a modest list of things I'm going to be doing.
-Z3 steering rack swap with Ground Control spherical tie rods
-Solid LCABs (unsure which yet)
-New wheel and tire package
-UUC DSSR install
-Brake maintance (new rotors/pads/fluid)
-Misc. body work. (An at home garage paintjob or vinyl wrap)
-Rebuild and balance driveshaft.
-Replace engine mounts with polyurethane bushings
-Install new plug wires
And lastly, toying with the idea of doing a Ground Control c/o setup now or waiting it out a bit. It's something that needs to happen before I get the motor work started, but I'm not sure if the budget will allow it right now. My thought is I'll be doing an alignment in the spring because of the steering rack so why not get the coil overs in there and corner weight it while I'm at it. That said, I'd like a daily driver so I think holding off a bit would be wise.
... I might start a project log once I get rolling but I don't fancy rolling around on cold concrete so I probably won't start until after snowboard season in March.
