Need some insurance help

I was looking at the "General Insurance" thread and didn't find anything useful, so I'm making a plea to the public!

I'm looking to purchase a 2003 BMW 325i/xi but what's holding me back is INSURANCE! I'm currently insured with State Farm and I was being quoted at 480/month. They were saying because BMW's have "performance engines" the insurance automatically goes up regardless of the year or make. Right now I'm paying 370/month for a 2002 Honda Civic coupe which I just sold on Monday. Now, I could go out and get another car like a G35 for example, which is surprisingly cheaper than the BMW, but I will ride or die for the Beamer. To give you an idea of what my record looks like...

1.) I'm a 21 year old male.
2.) I have a "Fail to dim headlight" ticket <- which is really stupid.
3.) I was in a 50/50 at fault accident in 2008.
4.) I live in Scarborough.

I figured I'm a member of this forum so why not ask my soon-to-be-fellow BMW'ers who they are insured with and what I could possibly do to overcome this horrible news.

You're a 21 year old male with tickets and an accident. Bimmers are expensive to fix (through insurance) therefore insurance is expensive. If you want one I recommend an older model that you can have just liability on or wait till your tickets drop off (3 years), your accident (6 years) or you are 25. Only other way is to be under your parents.

The only insurance company I know that has "good" rates for young people is Belair might want to check with them.

I've already acquired my G license, but thanks I will definitely check out Belair tomorrow, and all those pricing quotes I have been getting is under my parents.

The real question is: why would you choose a sedan over a coupe?

ticket + accident = screwed...
you are gonna have to wait it out...
I had numerous tickets and 11 demerit points and was quoted $8000/year for insurance on a 2004 Nissan Maxima... (this was back in 2007)
Basically you have to wait til your record is CLEAR...
ZERO tickets.
ZERO accidents.
they will always have you by the balls when they look at your record.
Age and location doesn't help your cause either...

Get a crap kicker car... do liability... drive it til it dies...
clear your stuff... buy the BMW you want.

Done!

FYI your G doesn't matter that much insurance isn't going to drop much till you are 25.

Call several brokers, Key word several. I was insured with Desjardins which is one of those young friendly companies. With the help of a broker after calling several was able to secure something that fit my needs and was also less expensive.
