x5 dash display

hi,
I recently bought a 2005 X5 and love it! But am confused by a pattern of yellow/green, orange and red lights on the dashboard (to the right of the oil warning indicator light) the and a button by the gearshift. The manual does not indicate what these features are. Please see attached pics. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the button is, however the lights on the dash..

will go down (will go out from the left, you lost one already) in this order.

5 green
4 green
3 green
2 green
1 green
should not have a service to the car (type 1 or type 2 depending on age / milage)
from this point on you are running danger for service
1 amber
1 amber + 1 red.

There is also a clock in that area somewhere that says the "yearly / 2 yearly stuff neededs doing (like brake / power steering fluid).
