I called tubular again today to get their banking information. I'm going to be sending them the deposit Monday evening to get things on the move. That means I'll be contacting everyone individually between now and then to verify the details of each order, get shipping information, and sort out deposit payments.

One thing that Tubular clarified for me today when I spoke with them is that the mid-section piping does not get coated, only the headers are coated. They said the cost for coating is about $1/inch so for what it would cost to get it coated you could replace the mid-section 3 times (since there's two pipes that are roughly 4ft). They said that the mid-section pipes are made out of good quality aluminized tubing so they should hold up fairly well.

This now seems like a much better deal than the RD header group buy after that price increase. To bad for Frank to have to burden that though.

I'm excited I got in on this one while the gettin was good. Hopefully we can get these before long.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with how that whole thing ended up.

But I just spoke with Tubular and they are supposed to be getting the material in this week. So this week or next week they will start bending everything up. I just need to sort out sourcing the flanges for the people who want the mid-section to bolt up to the stock muffler.

I figured it might be worthwhile to add some clarification to the flange situation for those of you who requested the mid-section ending with the flanges option. As most of you know, and if you look at this picture…



The stock cat has one flange which is held captive by a flared end, this is the flange that Tubular will be installing on the one mid-section pipe. The second mid-section pipe will just be reduced to and 1 ¾” slip fit (just like the stock cat). So in order to join the mid-section to your catback exhaust you will need to re-use items # 22-26 from your current exhaust or buy new ones.

The price increase for having the one flange added will only be ~$10.

"The headers are almost all done, and soon we will change the tooling and do the mid sections. With luck, all will be done and be ready next week. (some to the coaters, some not)"

I will be calling Tubular today to see where they are at on figuring out the shipping costs, that way I can start letting everyone know what the final payments will be before the headers ship.

I got an email from Tubular last night saying that the uncoated headers are ready to be shipped. All those who wanted their headers uncoated should be getting a PM from me today sometime. Once I have received the final payments I'll wire transfer the balance to Tubular and they'll ship out the headers.

For the people who wanted coated headers, they are being sent to the coater this week and I'll hopefully be getting an update on what the coating will cost (depending on what kind of discount they give us).

The coaters called this afternoon and said they expected to be working on all of the headers this Wednesday and Thursday. That means shipping should, or could begin Friday and the latest Monday. Everyone should begin to get them next week.
