Need help w/ a differential question..

I have popped my carrier gears and need to replace my rear diff. I have been offered a 4:10 small case diff from a 1991 318i and need to know if they will fit in my 1992 318i.
If anyone can help me w/ answering this question it would be greatly appreciated. If they don't fit then I will be looking for a LS or open rear diff that will.. I currently have 3:43 small case gears(LS).

should bolt right up as long as the donors a small case as well

ty it is also a small case, but the housing for the cover plate looks different on the 91. it has 1 support on top bolted to chassis where as mine has 2.. Is the rest of the case the same and the mounts are just different? Ie: my cover plate bolts to the diff case from the 91. Or do I need to change the diff case completely to use the gears..

An e30 diff will not work on an e36!
Different rear sub-frame and different mounting points.


Unless in the rear chance that you have a 1992 e30 318i cabrio, all other 92s were e36s therefore it won't be a direct fit.
