s52 or m52?? Hmmm...
I was thinking of two options,
s52 m50 mani, obd1 conversion
or a
M52, m50 mani, s52 cams, obd1
My goals
1) Reliable daily driver I drive alot
2) Obd1 so that i can put in my s/c when ever i want / on track days
3) Best bang for my bucks!
4) I don't got the time or knowledge to do this by myself so i will most likely let a shop do it.
So i been looking into s52's and i found a few, i found one for $2200 with 74k miles
I know the m52 would be cheaper even with the s52 cams.
Now i really like the idea of an s52, but after going through so many threads i see that there is little difference between the s52 n m52.
So what do you guys recommend??
Also i got the AA injectors (for the s/c), would it be harmful to leave the injectors on the engine even im not running the s/c?

M52 if bang for your buck is the goal.

Never heard of those cams before. They must be a special brand.
Anyways, I think both engines are fine for a daily, however they wouldn't meet your obd1 goal unless you plan on doing a conversion. Just add the sc to an obd2, nothing wrong with that, but like T.dot stated, best bang for your buck is the M52.
..and no, you do not want to install your sc injectors prior to having a sc on the car.

You mean to say people are still having issues working around doing an obd2 swap? That's what gives the engine its advantages in efficiency.

I'd go with M52 and OBDII because of the performance:dollar ratio.
You can get the EWS removed and an S52 cam tune for about $370.

OBDII M52 gets my vote.
The S52 is still way overpriced.

You're actually going to take your S/C on and off? Why? Buy a beater.

OBD 1 conversions are so pointless, complete waste of money. OBD II has been figured out (by tuners) for a long time now, a good tuner can program anything you want into an OBD II ecu.
S52s are overpriced, there is virtually no difference between them once you cam an M52.
Also, why would you take your supercharger on and off? Seems like a waste...

I would think the extra half litre (well almost) would make a difference ?

I think they talking about modded m52 vs. stock s52
Sunbelt cams, m50 mani, CAI, 3.5'' maf and a tune....would widen up the gap again, but then we are talking more $$$

OK, so you can buy a stock S52 for around 22-25 hundred, or you can buy an M52 and put 1800 dollars worth of cams plus labour, springs, lifters. I'm still confused as to how the S52 is perceived as being expensive ?

Who said you need to spend $1800 on cams? You can easily get a set of S50 or S52 cams for $300

My mistake, I was assuming shrick or sunbelt cams. It's still not cheap once it's all said and done.

S52 for added displacement.
