Pull the cover off of the DME computer cover (right top corner of firewall in engine compartment---just follow the main engine wiring loom) and check it yourself; that way you know exactly what DME you have---which is important (at least on older cars) in case you want to chip/flash the DME.

The earlier E36s used various DME's, and I checked my parts programs---there's still all kinds of part numbers for the car.

You're better off checking it yourself--and take a picture of it for future reference!!!
