I purchased one of these Keyless entry units for my 1997 328i:

To my understanding, I only need pins H1/1 (Power), H1/5 (Lock), H1/8 (Unlock), H1/11 (Ground) mated to Pin 1, 9, 10 and 3 (respectively) of this:

However, I can't get unlock or lock going. Hell, I can't even get into the valet mode of the locking system (a feature on the Viper system). I highly suspect something defective with my unit (the fuses aren't blown and the LED blinks when I hit "lock" on the remote...but it doesn't actually lock the car).
Can anyone tell if I'm doing something wrong?
