Dont use WD 40. It's a water displacement liquid meaning it WILL dry out rubber and painted surfaces.


SImple green 2 parts water 1 simple green and a brush.


After but before i changed all the bolts and armor alled everything but still obvious.

I agree... WD40 should only be used to break down dried rustproofing or crusty stock on dirt ! Thats why I used it.

For all other engine cleaning, any engine spray or All purpose cleaner diluted with water would work fine.

BTW, 5ABIVT your engine bay was only dusty.. nowhere near as bad as mine was !

I probably missed that on the rust proofing .. Wd40 will def help get rid of that stuff. I hate degreaser personally because it dries out rubber as well. I like to think of it as a cleaner for engine blocks only from the prehistoric carbureted days where there wasn't so much rubber and plastic underhood. Back then domestic car makers couldn't build a car right let alone valve cover gaskets etc that would leave oil all over the side of the block that would accumulate dirt and debris. Degreaser is good for that.
