possibly ABS problem?

when it rained a whole lot past couple weeks , there were 2 times where i had to stomp on my brake pretty hard going around 20km/h - 30 km/h...

and my wheels just locked up and skidded. abs didnt come on.

does this mean i dont have abs or the abs is broken?

this could be problematic for winter driving ...

( no abs light on on my dashbord )

Try and repeat again at higher speeds, especially if it is dry. At slower speeds it may not have enough time to cycle, and it probably seemed like it was locking even though you already were nearly stopped.

Generally speaking, at slow speeds like 20-30km, it might end up being a shorter distance traveled if you were to lock your brakes right up versus using ABS anyways.

first snowfall in waterloo ...lol

i tried to activate my abs and it does not work , car just skids...

can this be because my traction control doesn't work?

i dont have any abs lights or anything on...

Yes, because the traction control uses the ABS system, so you have to fix that first, and then everything should be fine.

On my 1992 with auto. trans. and no traction control, they came with a limited-slip rear differential---that was their traction control! Also, they have a 3-channel ABS system (front left, front right, rear) because of the LSD. That's why cars with traction control can't use mechanical LSD's, because they would interfere with the traction control mechanism, which uses the ABS to slow the wheel down from spinning---which requires a 4-channel system.

So by having traction control, you're using the ABS system to stop wheel spinning. If it doesn't work, neither does your ABS system---not because the ABS system is faulty, the traction control system is!!!
