One is a BMW and one is NOT
I couldn't really tell you too much. I have one friend with a 2007 G35 coupe - very luxurious car but he had many many electrical issues right from the point where he picked it up from the dealership (Maybe a lemon?) He's still driving it till this day - not sure if the issues are ongoing. Infiniti was very good with warranties and service but seeing as you're looking at a 2007, your purchase would likely have no warranty.
Yet another friend has recently purchased the exact car you're asking about... 2007 328i - beautiful car... no complaints that I know of.
Not really an answer to your question.. but hey..

I have a zed, so close to the same car. It's been VERY reliable, my friend had a G and it's the same deal. In my experience, the BMW tends to be more 'buggy', that isn't to say the build quality isn't better, it is. It just gets little niggles.
The cars are actually SO different, it's hard to begin to compare. If you're looking for a car that does oversteer, *feels* faster, and a generally sporty demeanor, the G is for you. The BMW has a nicer interior (by a long shot) and is a classier choice if that means anything. Which would I get? If I were single and planning to mod the car, I'd get the G. The 328 will be more expensive to repair and maintain, but if I needed the extra room and a shot of class, I'd get the 3. The G is a generally a more entertaining car. Make sure you get the 6mt version.

probably when they started fitting runflats as standard, lol. totally killed the ride handling compromise that made them famous....don't get me wrong, they're still great cars....but they're just a bit too refined now to give you hairy oversteer. my old e36 was a lunatic, it would just slip sideways in the wet with so little provocation. I was watching someone make a right turn in damp weather in an e36 a couple months ago and he fishtailed and almost spun the damn car on a 3 lane street. Bliss.
