I've posted on some other threads and from what I can see from other people, this clicking noise in the rear of the 3-series BMW seems to be an issue dating back to at least the 2007 model and applies to at least 2008 and 2009 models. And with the latest thread at the bottom of my list I now see it was in the 2006 models as well.

Check out these posts where people complain about the same noise in the rear from the rear parcel shelf area. Also notice that the techs seem to make the same excuses to not fix it:

Question

Has anyone else had or have this clicking noise in the back of their car?
Could you please tell me the model and year.

Thanks

If a dealer treated me like a GOD to buy their car, and then didn't give a crap about me after I bought the car, this is not surprising to me at all. Its business, the person that hides in there little office with the tag that says “Manager” should handle the situation before it escalates period. It not fair an entire dealer has to take slack for a lazy incompetent manager. There is a show on T.V Called Under Cover Boss, the CEO goes around to meet front line worker etc. when the CEO ask the Manager “why are the front line workers of the company are suffering the most”? There like “DUH I don’t know” but I’m sure they know how to collect their end of year bonus.

With that poor attitude, no wonder the dealers gave you a hard time!

I've had great service from mine with my M3. I got a full inspection 2 performed free just before my free maintenance expired, even though the KMs were only half way to the scheduled inspection. Saved me a ton of $$.
