Failed EMMISION, need help ASAP!!
Hey guys I took ym 96 328is today for emission, and the curb idle is fine, when its at 2500 rpm everything sucked
Also does the weight of the car make a difference, because i did have a tool kit in the trunk...
ASM2525 Result:
The HC ppm limit is 58 mine is 104
The co% limit is 0.32 mine is 0.59
The NO ppm limit is 435 mine was 803
RPM 2591
Dilution 14.3
Curb Idle results:
HC ppm limit is 200 mine was 183
The c0% lmit is 1.00 mine was 0.36
RPMK at 705
Dilution 14.8
Im guessing that i should buy a new o2 sensor..
Anyone wanna lend me a o2 sensor for 3 hours
I also noticed that the emission place put the model as 325i???? witha 2.8l engine??? Im so confused... can someone tell me why that was done??

Go into the shop, and tell them to do an idle test on the car.... thats how they do my car, they say its too low and won't go on the rollers, so they do the idle test. It passes everytime. Been doing that every year.... and this year my O2 sensor went and it still passed.

and considering your results I quote:
Curb Idle results:
HC ppm limit is 200 mine was 183
The c0% lmit is 1.00 mine was 0.36
RPMK at 705
Dilution 14.8
you should pass the idle test and be good for another year.

you can't jsut ask them to do a curb idle test (tsi). they'll only do it if they have good enough reason, ie, awd, too low, or can't disengage traction control

yah so go into a shop with above ground dyno, and tell them to do 2 speed idle and not try to drive it up on dyno, if they complain start bitching telling them that they will be responsible to all the damages because it happened before etc...

When I do emissions on my e46. I just go in and ask for idle test....I tell them, that every time I go on the rollers, it messes up my traction control sensors. So I don't want it to cause any damage to my car, but if they do they will cover the charges.
Works every time, last year I got a smart ass, who said he will turn it off and do it... I told him, sure go ahead but if it brakes my sensors, the shop will be responsible for the repair at the BMW dealership. I told him to put it on paper, once he heard that.... he gave up and did the idle test.
Its a small lie, but it makes them do the idle test.
Just go in there, acting like a prick, so they will do as u say, just to get you out of there.

Any small shop is good, Canadian tire and big places like it, think they know everything so I wouldn't go to them.

You changed the after cat O2 sensors to fix high CO? That is interesting, I'd expect the pre-cat sensors would cause that.
