richie_s999's E36 thread
Well after a few years of building and modding my E30 I was running outa things to do, and thought I would take on a new project
Here is where I am at with my E36...
This year has mainly been getting the car in a safe state for track and autocross use, really its bone stock as of now..
This year I have
-replaced all ball joints
-replaced innner and outer tie rods
-replaced control arm bushings
-replaced RTAB with HD rubber units
-replaced broken rear springs
-had to repair cyl head from Previous owner forgetting a retainer washer on a spark plug
various small parts replaced that were missing or damaged
-painted out the big crome grills, think I want smoked signals too
-replaced the hood (was red and testing the race strip look, think I like it)
-new winsheild
-new front brake lines
-repalced all fluids in drive line
-upgraded to sport seats, comfort seats were horrable for performance driving
-installed a 328 muffler section to loose the square tip way to loud magnalflow
- replaced rear wheel bearings
Car is a 1993 325is
currently at 204000km
non air bag car!!!
Black on Black!!
no rust under neither at jack points, or rear fenders (major bonus!!)
working on seeing if the 16 inch Ronal rims are going to fit on the car, they are 7,5 wide and ET18!! I need to do a stud conversion to see if they are going to fit, if so hoping to have street tires on them and instal sometime in July
Pretty much just working on making sure the car is super solid right now, may get a Mark D chip for it this summer and thats about it.
future plans are full coil overs, poly bushings, and bigger sway bars along with some cassis reinforcement
thinking off a BBK but have to see about what that will do to the carsd PAX numbers for autocross racing, may just go slotted brembo disks with ceramic pads
going to leave the motor alone for now, its realy strong still and want to get the suspenion and brakes perfect B4 going power crazy!
I'll post some more pics of the car racing and at some of this summers events as things happen, and update as work is done.
Enjoying this car, and a big part is learning the ins and outs of a new chassis, what works and what doesn't, and doing the work too

Thanks bro
well as I was one of the first to do a BMW Matte Black, and now everyone is doing ever car under the sun Matte black, that option is out the window!!
I grew up around old muscle cars, and that where I drew the Matte black from on the last car, so I thought full stripes would work with the shape of an E36
Panning a full repaint in the spring, if I do the stripes the will be done full front to back, thinking apocolipto red for them.

My e30 was a 318is, and I have a 95 318i that Lorrie drives
the rims are 16x7.5 et18. Doing a test fit soon will roll the fenders if I have too worst case a friend has the molds for some aggressive flares from his track car. The r comps on the rims are 245/45s. I'll be running 225/50s on them for street.

those should fit I'm running 225-40 on 8in rims front and 255-30 on 9in in rear and I have no issues at all with H&R springs all around.

The fender flares could be a great idea

et 18 is just like running 20 mm spacers I am actually hoping they fit, will give a nice wide stance, if I have to I can have the hubs milled to raise the offset too, but think I'll be ok with a good fender roll!!
Here are a few pics from Sunday's autocross taken by 330DTM...Mike always takes wicked shots!!

Well went to Rudys this morning for a test fit, rims aren't gonna work, looking at a major fender pull and would have to run stretched tires, which would not be good for autocross racing. They would work with a wide body and trimmed fenders but I'm along ways fro
that.
The stance looked sick though!!
Going to explore some options this weekend
