Best clutch for the price !

I second that, how much did rocco quote you? Book says it's a 12 hr job but a good tech can do it in 3 hrs.

I heard LUK is better. Thats oem aswell. Its wat i picked up and installed it my self. PM me if you want it installed. I can do it at my shop for a good price.

I realize this is more "best price for clutch" than "best clutch for price" but
my clutch just gave out so I've been calling around. I thought I share my findings.

Installed (parts & labour)
RPM: $700 installed
BimmerSport: $680 installed
BMW Durham: $820
Auto Evolution: waiting for a call back

Parts only
RPM: $400
BimmerSport: $420
BMW Durham: $540
Auto Evolution: waiting for a call back (will edit with update soon)
Partsource: started @ $630 for a Semco but came down to $520 when I told them they were more expensive then the dealer.
Warden Automotive: $826 (also a Semco) but offered a re-manufactured option @ $359

So there you go.

quick update:

Autobahn East Parts and labor - $645.00 using OEM Clutch.
If customer provides their own parts the labor is $250.00

Unfortunately for me I received that quote shortly after I had my car towed to BMW Durham.

why would you go to bmw durham if both bimmersport and RMP are cheaper?

Ha ha, I look like a fool! I should explain...

I ended up at the dealer because they are 11km from my house. I was meaning to get a CAA membership but kept putting it off...then *boom* went my clutch, so I got CAA. After the first 48 hours your 'basic benefits' kick in which is a 10 km tow.

The cost of towing the car to RPM from my house in Pickering made the total more expensive then the dealer. Bimmersport is further again and I couldn't wait the 7 days until my 'CAA plus benefits' = 200km tow, kicked in.

My experience at the dealer was surprisingly good.

BMW drops the price on the part down to $310 if you have them do the labour. So, the bare bones clutch job ends up being $686. If you call the service dept. they will quote you $820 for the clutch 'value pack'. which included some additional bearing you may or may not need.

I did not need the additional bearing but did require a few exhaust bolts and such, so my total was $686 for the clutch and an extra $60 in misc parts.

If my CAA was in full effect and I didn't desperately need my car that week, my business would have gone to support one of the shops that advertises here.
