MAF cleaner
The idle in my car seems to be rough. It's barely noticeable and lasts for a few seconds after startup but I want to fix it before it gets worse.
My first course of action would be to clean the MAF but I am not sure where to get the CRC MAF sensor cleaner. I know some of you are familiar with this cleaner and/or substitutes so if you could provide me with a list of substitutes, where I can purchase them and for how much I'd really appreciate it.
Hopefully it's the MAF otherwise I'll have to get Bosch spark plugs.

I purchased mine at Napa Auto Parts. If your MAF is starting to go bad, it will need replacing. Hopefully its just dirty.

Damn! I thought there would be worse symptoms such as CEL and stalling that would require MAF replacement. Is the stealership the only place to get a new MAF?

Nope!
If it`s a Bosch unit, you need to call your nearest Bosch parts dealer. Give them the part number. I paid $380 three years ago including delivery for my M3. Stealership wanted well over $800.

I believe the 2003 and 1993 325 have the same part number, i will have to check. If they are I have one here.

I cleaned my MAF and i bought the solution at NAPA also. It didn't make a difference! I also changed my plugs a few weeks ago, they were so dirty and looked like shit!! but that made no difference also!
I really wanted to see a difference

This sounds disappointing. My car has 70,000km. I really don't want to start doing Inspection II stuff now. Guess I am running out of options.

don't be disappointed! My car usually runs a little rougher when i turn the AC on.... even with the AC off i could notice a slight roughness but that might just be me being picky!
But my next check will be a vacuum leak check! it's good to find the problem sooner then later!

Try cleaning the MAF since its so cheap and painless.... and then change the plugs... see if that makes any difference for your car!

MAF cleaned, problem gone. I'll start it up again tomorrow morning when the engine is cold and then see if I get the same problem.

clean the MAF with brake clean; it evaporates all most immediately; and dejunks/removes deposits and oil if any.

if your MAF is gone you will notice that your km to gass ratio is decreasing, since you will be running rich. Also engine jerking while driving, and or stalling when at idle.
