Really? I've seen some really great condition ontario cars not come close to passing safety in QC.

Except that they don't have to continually pass safety in QC. Once it's been safetied it doesn't have to again unless it moves provinces. So for the most part, they are run into the ground. On top of that, their roads suck which is brutal on suspension (although Ottawa is getting as bad). I personally would not look for a qc car unless I did a seriously thorough inspection first.

Right, but my 525i with 168K on it got an estimate from the QC safety place for $4600 to qualify it for the road. It was ****ing ridiculous.

Depends where you safety it, who you are and who you know.
Never safety your car in Gatineau, the one on st-louis. Theres a garage next door and they will fail you on anything just to say: "well theres a mecanic next door"
You shouldnt pass with coilovers in Qc but theres a way.

Like everything I suppose. This place looked very official; and offered to recommend a shop to do the work right next door. Made that ****ing transaction very painful; I ended up refunding the buyer. I'll never do that again.

If you're going from ONT to QC, then yeah, but coming the other way, doesn't mean the QC car is better. If anything it is usually worse because if it was originally purchased in QC, it's never had a safety done in it's entire life span.
Plus, there are places in ONT that probably would have given you the same repair bill with an Ontario Safety. Rudy's safeties are like that.

Exactly, that's what I'm talking about. If he gets a qc car, it could be in any shape because it won't need a safety, and will never have had one.
You asked him why he wasn't getting a QC plated car were you not?
