BMW BIKES.. hot or not?
I know there are lots of great motorcycles out there.. I was just wondering if anybody knows how BMW stacks up against bikes like HAYABUSA, Ducati, GSX-R, etc.. opinions??
Im digging the K1200RS (MSRP=$22,500)

I like it, but if you're going to spend the money you should just get the AC Schnitzer special edition

BMW bikes are mostly touring/cruising oriented, although they have big engines, due to the Shaft drive and different gearing they dont exactly compete with JAP crotch rockets..
They have a higher more comfortable seating position, and are awesome on long trips or on onroad/offroad combinations..
with all that said, R1150 GS is a BADASS all around bike, and it has respect of everyone from harley guys to dirtbiker guys, to the sports bike crowd..
Still.. not for me
here's my baby:
CBR1100XX, 0-60 in some shitty 2.4 secs, 1/4mile in 10.2, etc etc ..
top speed 190mph out of the factory.. (confirmed.. almost)

Why is insurance on a bike so high? I mean they are somewhat less expensive than most cars, so I thought it would be lower??

Because the likely hood of speeding/recklessness is higher (at least for 20 year olds). When there is a crash, the person operating the bike usually needs some heftly medical bills paid, and the bike slides off the road and gets written off. (Now that is generalizing!)

its also pretty popular to get your bike ride it for a couple months park it in your friends garage claim it stolen, get racing plastic for it track it, get a new bike paid for by insurance for the street.
