2 - 1995 BMW 540i 6 Speed (HE53) - NA painted in Orient Blue Metallic (317) with Ultramarine Bison Leather (0452/L4UL) interior were built for the Canadian market.
None were built for the US market.
The most rare option in this car is the option S299A - BMW LA wheels with mixed tires. It was installed on 52 out of 1,524 cars. <- those are 2pc Style 5s. Those were not available in the US.
My 95 520i Touring is in the exact same combo. It was originally cloth Ultramarine, but PO swapped in Ultramarine leather with wood trim in it. I absolutely love the combination. Funny thing is when I was shopping for a Touring, I almost didn't buy it cause I was told over the phone that the interior was blue. Out of boredom I decided to go and check it out anyway and I bought it on the spot.

That sounds exactly like my buying process. It really is a beautiful combination. Thanks for the info, I had no idea it would be so rare.

Probably too many people were afraid of the blue interior.
By the way, here what the window sticker would've looked on that car
540i 6spd - $66,900
ASC+T - $1,325
Wheels - $2,490
M Technic Suspension - $525
Sport power seats with memory - $1,060
The only factory options it is missing are Shadow line and lumbar support. There was also a dealer installed car phone and a CD changer, but I can't tell if you got them since they are not installed at the factory.

Fascinating. I have to say, the blue has definitely aged extremely well, much better than black, tan or grey in my experience. The car has 270 kms on it now, but barely any cracks or wear in it at all, and zero bolster sag. I still have the Style 5s, phone and CD changer (both work). Thanks again!

I noticed that too. There is tiny bolster wear on my car, but other than that leather is in like new condition. Bolster wear is just in the dye. There are no cracks or "polished" leather look anywhere. I wonder if blue leather has some kind of a treatment that made it more durable somehow.
And damn, someone went nuts on your car.
CMT1000 phone - $980
CMT1000VR phone - $1,140
CD changer - $795

Good question...same for me, just bolster wear in the dye. I suspect it may be less susceptible to UV damage due to blue's place close to that light in the spectrum, but as to physical wear, I've not a clue.
That phone equipment it pretty cool (and expensive!), I wish I could get it working with our current digital cell networks.
