Friend looking to get E36 or C Class 96 or newer
My friend is looking for a used bimmer or benz, must be automatic, 4 dr preferably.
So far we've found a lot of C class' and a few nice 328's.
Does anyone know anyone selling?
Also, what should we be looking at regarding problems, etc... before purchasing?

not much problems, but there are a few really bad lemons out there, the kompressor engine is alright but kinda loud, lights bulbs burnout a lot, lower control arm bushings don't last that long, ball joints also, diff side seals leak, but are all easy to fix if you know how, parts are resonable priced not to much $$$

Um, not all are kompressor right? Which ones are?
Bulbs not a big deal, probably upgrade to HID anyways, and control arms are common problems wiht E36 as well.
What should I be looking for on both of these cars in terms of wear and tear? Initial rust spots?
Jim-E, yeah I know, those style C's are beautiful, personally I like silver.

I test drove a brand new C-Coupe Kompressor Evo and it drove worse than my 8 year old (at the time) 318ti. The only thing better was that it was fast...
Also, something funny, I drove 2 Coupes, with the same stock engine and tranny, and one car was noticiably faster than the other.

which 2 models did you drive?, they have a C320 Coupe & C230 Kompressor Coupe, but there were 2 engines for the C230 Kompressor, the old one which was a 2.3L with 191hp & the new one with a 1.8L 189hp
