Oil light after turning off car.

Hello, I have been noticing a couple times that after turning off my car I see the yellow oil light stay on. I don't know how long it stays for but its the only light on.

Any ideas what it means?
Oil change time soon?

Inspection 2 is listed more than 16000 kms away.

Don't go by the lights telling you when inspection time is....weather and general driving conditions along with where you drive changes the frequency as to how soon you should do the inspection. On e46 inspect 2 isn't much anymore. not like in the day of the e30's.

How do I check the oil service reminder?
I know when i start the car it shows 16 400 before the regular info.

I have put 9000kms on the car since the last oil change...believe it or not in just over a month... I guess its time to change it again.

I had this exact situation 2 years ago. Took it to the dealer, they topped up the oil for free, oil light issue went away. Since they I have had scheduled oil service and inspection II, yellow oil light issue never returned.

Yellow light when you turn the car off means you need to add 1 liter of oil.
If your oil level is ok, then your oil level sensor is toast...

Don't go by the service interval reminder no matter what the dealership says. An engine is an engine is an engine. gm v8 1960 or a 1998 3.2 litre. Viscosity of oil breaks down regardless.
Guess why they tell you not to change your oil so frequently. Because its more wear and tear on the motor. You should change regardless of what, every 5-7km religiously. maybe stretch it to 10k. :-)

i always find these posts rather amusing...i think it's easier to pick up the manual than to pose question online.

Oh and I checked the engine oil level and it is just below max. I will do an oil change and i'm sure it will go away.
