Hi Everybody,
After a talking to many of my Torontoian friends, I receive a lot of questions regards,
how Alberta is cooping with a tumbling oil prices.
I have decided to shed a bit of light on the situation.
Although most of those are publication on a national level,
most of you either missed it or never seen it before.
So here are some newspaper article to give you a picture on whats going on here.

So basically you are saying that everything in the media is true? Things are really that grim?

Any comments on the housing market?

I met a few guys in Mexico during Xmas time, and they are saying things are bad over there. They still have not felt the domino effects on the rest. The worst is yet to come.

Not surprised. A large majority of the people who flew out there were very low educated, possibly hard working alcoholics, who worked whatever job they found for copious amounts of money monthly, that they spent extremely recklessly. Even some Americans made their way there for that reason. IT was the "GOLD RUSH" of our time... Now we watch it crumble. Some people thought the 5,10, 15K a month they were making would have been forever. I had a few customers who worked out there, the stories are unreal, I wish someone actually published a true to life blog.

I've heard crazy numbers thrown around about how much some people were pulling on a monthly basis. That's a lot of money to be comfortable with, and you can put away soooo much of it every month that in a year you'd have serious five figure savings. Yet many of these people burned through it all?!

The savings are probably there for the slow periods. That's what some people were telling me.

It is VERY true, many guys who worked with my dad in the construction world went out there, especially young/single guys. They took whatever jobs and were, on a bad day making 6-8K for a entry job, with their living expenses covered( many slept in the 'barracks'). Very few were smart enough to save the money and come back and put down a big down payment on a house or condo, most live(d) "Livin' da loca" over there. Most strip clubs per capita in all of NA? That's gotta mean something....
