Cluster is dead now

My cluster has been givin me issues since I bought the car. It is a '94 318is. The cluster has been turning off and on intermittently. I have tried another cluster but the issue persists on the replacement cluster. I have traced it to fuse 23. When I pull fuse 23, the cluster is off just like the issue.

I have read on a UK forum that the ignition switch may be the issue.

I have read lots about this issue but no one has followed up with their resolution.

Has anyone successfully repaired this problem, not including replacing the cluster.

^^ take out cluster, then make sure all ground bolts are tight and clean from oxidation.

Also check out the wiring in the trunk on the left hand side. There is a common issue with wiring being shredded inside the rubber casing causing shorts. However, this usually results in a blown fuse, so it may not be the case.
