boosted e30 325e(under construction)

well i have the mosselman turbo kit-t3/t4 turbo 325e bottom end, i head. Now i need to either have my i pistons machined or find super eta pistons. I am rebuilding the bottom end and plan on everything ready to go then leave up to a shop to drop in the motor/turbo kit and tune it. I am trying to find a shop in Toronto/Sauga/Scarborough to machine my pistons, does anyone know where I can have this done? I'll post pics of the build once it's all done BTW it will be going in a e30 cab. any help is greatly appreciated.

WEll if you are using the 325e complete bottom-end with "i" pistons and the i head, you do not need to have the piston top machined.
You will only need to shave the pistons if you use the "i" rods.

Also if you use the e crank and e rods with the i pistons, you will need to take away some of the piston's skirt because the skirt will intefere with the connecting rod on the way down.
Then you will need to rebalance all of the pistons.
One easy way is to use the complete e bottom end with e pistons and install the i head on top.
This will give you a low compression engine perfect for your turbo setup.

Thanks maybe i'll just stick with the e bottom end and i head because of the low compression but are their any pros of using i pistons over e pistons?

Sure their is because the i pistons are shaped to be with the i head.
But i would not worry too much since there is e bottom end with i head engines with a turbo doing 11 seconds on the 1/4 mile.

Thanks for your help, and one final question. With e pistons what compression ratio would i end up with? 8.0:1? i've read the super eta pistons put out an 8.8:1 CR. Thanks again!

I heard the mosselman kit for the 318 wasn't so hot..
and it's a ready to "bolt on, safe for your motor Kit" making like 5lbs..

all that being said...I don;t think you really "need" to rebuild to run this kit.
but if you were doing it anyways

yes the e bottom end with the i head is about 7.9 or 8 to1
But the super eta pistons in there will give you 8.5 to 1
So that means you can increase the boost on that turbo of yours and not worry about detonation...The #1 piston killer.
