1987 325 w/290K

There is a guy in the neighborhood that has a 1987 325 with 290 k on it and is asking $1700 obo.

Body is straight and no rust. one small ding on lip of hood.

White with Navy leather interior. Interior is immaculate.

Talked to the guy on the phone today and he said that car runs good and has all maintenance records. Local garage that is friend of family.

problems. Says the front control arms and shocks need to be replaced fairly soon. Mechanic quoted $1000 to fix both.

How easy is it to replace the control arms?? I found a brand new set for $160 and the dealer had them for around $400. I know its the labor thats the big $$$. If I'm fairly competent, is this something I can do??

Is this a decent price for this car? I havent driven it yet, but parts seem plentiful. also good performance parts out there.

Are these safe cars? this would be for my wife and want to feel good about getting this type of car.
