transmission whistle???
i have a bmw e36 325is (m3 swap from 98), i just had a small leak fixed on my transmission, and had a new hanger bearing installed aswell (completely shredded). From a cold start, in all the gears i heard a whistling noise coming from my transmission, but when i clutch in, the noise stops. it seems to occur when under load. When my car is fully warmed up the noise stops. i did some research and no solid explanations. before i got everything fixed it never had made that noise.
has anyone had this problem?
thanks,

need a new throw out bearing

could it possibly the type of fluid used aswell? my clutch seems fine, not slipping or anything. because once my car is warmed up it goes away..

i was reading on m3forum.net, and it could possibly be an input shaft bearing.

Judging by your symptoms my number one suspect would be the input bearing on the diff.
Seen this issue quite a few times.

Input shaft bearing on the tranny. Get M0S2 Anti-friction paste for gears by Lubro Moly, squize it into the tranny and the noise will go away.

Definitely bearing, I had the exact same problem. Mine was the counter shaft bearing though. Do you hear the noise in 5th gear?

you can buy the paste at Automaster Trading shop. It's on 1170 Sheppard ave West, Unit 27. It's like 10-15$
