Mine's $130/month for my E30.
It has no collision but I paid $300 for mine and I had an appraisal done at $100 for insurance! ;D

I just got an online quote from TD auto insurance, quoted $170/month.. It's way cheaper than what I'm paying to desjardins ($230)..But I haven't had an experience switching from one to another while the policy is active. How does it work? Do I have to cancel the desjardins first then start a new policy with TD? or would TD take care of switching process?

Call your current insurance company and cancel. They'll normally "turn off" your policy on the day that you pay next or specify a day you want it to end. After that, call the new company and tell them to start your new policy on the day that your current one ends.
HOWEVER! Call TD first and see how accurate that quote is. I've had an experience where the online quote wasn't exactly reflecting reality (by just a few dollars, but still).

+1 on the actual quote. Also, make sure you were talking to Meloche Monnex and not just TD Insurance.

I got an online quote of under $100 online from Desjardins (logged into my account which claims to be accurate) and after I bought the vehicle (my SUV, not my E30) it ended up being $160....not impressed but...WHATEVER!
Maybe I should switch!

I was in Waskaganish Quebec for 3 years with desjardens and the last year I was with them I was paying 280 for that year. The difference is that in Ontario the insurance company needs to carry the liability... In quebec your liability is covered under your yearly registration that is $120 or so.
We get it up the A hole here in Ontario that's for sure.

Bumping this thread up as a warning to others. I'm old (27 lol), have a nearly perfect record and was paying a pittance to insure my two cars previously (G35 Coupe and Civic), but my insurance company refuses to insure my E30. I'm going to try Meloche Monnex and see what they're willing to do for me.
Edit: I used their online quote thing, price was decent, but significantly more expensive than what I'd be paying for an E36 (118/mth vs 88/mth)

I'm insured through the personal. My e30 was costing about 85-90 i think. i didnt' do collision though, just liability. They have a lot of different discounts too for different organizations you belong to. I currently have an engineer discount that save me a crap-ton of money. i can't remember if it was through IEEE or OSPE
