Battery light came on and lost power steering

Yay more problems!
Heard some noises today when driving to and from work but thought it was the suspension.

Anyways, when i was a street away from home (i was listening to music but i heard some noise) and the battery light came on and lost power steering.

Anyone have it before?

I left the car in the garage and had to go to my second job (where i am at now)

Car didn't over heat, and the power steering fluid shouldn't be an issue..

Serpentine Belt?
Idler pulley?

or alternator that drained your battery and then car died?

How would that affect PS? E46 has belt driven power steering pump

well if the car died but was rolling he wouldnt have power steering.

I guess the question is, did the car die?

Belt broke. Sounds like you're upset you keep having problems .. Belts are cheap and easy to change it really shouldn't have aged and cracked to the point of breaking.

Terry the car didn't die no, but i was close to home, and just put it in the garage.

The alternator belt snapped (185,000km)
It did because of a seized pulley and had to replace pulley tensioner too.

Also when the belt snapped it damaged the belt on the PS?

Then i had to get my front right control arm... was totally screwed up and the bearing.

Intake sensor (was actually my issue for the car not starting or hiccuped starts)

and an oil leak (seal) that took 2 hours to get to..

all in all 1200$ in repairs but she runs great now!
