Fitting steelies onto 2009 328i

Hey guys, I got 16" BMW steelies (7Jx16H2 IS44) and they're touching my front brakes. Tire rack lists 16" as a base size, so I'm not sure why. Would I be able to use spacers or should I just return them?

It's an 09 328i non-sport...it should be able to use 16" tires as per realoem. So I'm guessing its an offset issue

I have the same car, it came with the 16" alloy BMW rims.
I just installed my 16" steel BMW rims with winter tires from my old E46, they fit fine.
Are your steel rims actualy stamped BMW?

Yes, they're real BMW steelies, but with a 44 offset. I had to use 12mm spacers to push the wheels further away from the brakes.

Well I guess you have them on and working so that's what counts.
Now if only Santa will bring me those 18" alloys I've had my eye on, can't wait for summer!
