Many items in stores are on par with US prices and have been for some time.
The auto industry still gouges us. Many parts I have bought are made in Germany so what difference is there when same parts come to Canada vs US and we pay inflated prices.
Ontario is a huge market IMHO so it still does not explain huge price difference. We pay 2x the shipping cost as the US. How is that? Transport carrier still carries a full load whether going to Chicago or Montreal.
Do you think China or India will see huge lower price differences from the US?
With those markets the manufacturers will be almost giving them away
There are more wholesale distributors in the united states, the total cost per unit is lower. Also do not forget frequently a wholesale distributor will get the parts in the united states and then it will come to Canada, rather then directly from Germany.
