Porter Cable with Mothers?

So all along i've been using the Simoniz orbital polisher. It gets the car shining but the swirls remain. And thats why i'm going to get a Porter Cable. Now would the Porter work with Mothers products? I have the 3 stage and if it will get the minor scratches/swirls out then that'll be great. If not i'll get the Menzerna or the Wolfgang stuff
. Or do you guys recommend something else?Also what pads do you recommend? The car in question is the one in my sig.

While porter is a better product then simoniz, that's likely not your problem... the pads you are using etc would be the issue.

I'm not expert, but from what I've come to see over the years, that's what you should be focusing on...

Proper clay baring first too to get rid of the surface contaminants is essential too.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the pads would make a huge difference. But what i need to know is if the Mothers stuff is capable of removing swirls when using a PC
Or do i have to get a more professional product?

Mothers IS junk. That 3-step stuff is for newbies.

Get yourself the PC, and the appropriate foam pads. Then start looking at prooducts, whether it's from Meguiar's, 3M, Menzerna, etc... The PC and foam pads will work wonders compared to your old Simonize with the white terry cloth pad.

I'm heading to St Catharines tomorrow for work on my way back i'll go to eshine. I was told to get Poorboys SSR 2.5 and SSR 2.0..

2.5 with the orange pad and the 2.0 with the white pad. But why should i be using 2 abrasives/compounds? Cant i use the 2.5 and then a sealant followed by a wax?

Forget the Poorboys stuff. You have a dark colored car...the one in the pic right??

Do this. Get the following from eshine.

Lake Country pads: one 4" CCS orange pad, one 4" CCS white pad. $6.25 each
Lake country flexible backing pad: 5" $18

Menzerna Intensive Polish: PO91E $28 (use this with the orange pad first)
Menzerna Super Intensive Polish: SI1500 $32 (use this with the white pad second)

Have you ever used a PC? You need to crank up the speed on the PC to around 5, and use the foam pads I specified. Don't be afraid to use a little pressure. Using a PC requires some finesse to get rid of swirls. These Menzerna products work best with a rotary polisher, but since you're not at that stage yet, we won't go there. Use the PC and get used to it first.

I've only included 2 steps/layers. If you've never clayed your car before...I suggest washing, followed by claying, and then starting with the Menzerna IP, then followed by SIP. If you have a sealant, then use that, and follow up with a nice layer of wax...your paint will look 100 times better than with the Simoniz terry cloth polisher.

the simonize is a wax spreader, not capable of any correction work.

for polishes, you're better off with Menzerna, Meguiar's, Scholl Concepts.
