Need help installing aftermarket car deck on my e39 plz

Just bought an alpine 133bt from crutchfield with the wire harness adapter.
I removed the stock head unit and disconnected the wires.
Soldered/crimped the wire harness to the car deck adapter.
Turned it on but no sound except staticy noises ( The noise you hear when you are flickering tv channels)
Did I miss a step?
The speakers are still stock if that helps.

Did you connect the relay wire for the factory amplifier?

No I did not. Where do I find this wire and how do I install it?

Usually this is a blue wire from the deck, if you used an adaptor kit is should have provided this connection. Usually it is noted for amps or cd changes.
