RMP! Your thoughts on K&N products?

I'm considering a K&N intake or at the very least a replacement panel filter for my car. I'm reading as many negative reviews on K&N products as positive ones. I was wondering where RMP stands on K&N? Do they really let as much dirt past them as some claim? Are they worth it?

We have good luck with k+n and other brands of performance filters. We have dyno tested them against other brands and they yield decent gains. When oiled properly they filter great and do not cause any damage to sensors.
