Swirl marks removal
I had some detailing done at a detail shop and let's just say the result was lot less than satisfactory, as none of the swirl marks were removed and I had more wax residue than a bukakke film.
Does anyone have any experience with swirl marks removal that can shed some pointers? preferably without the need for me to buy a $400 machine (if anything I have one of those dual hands Simoniz orbital polisher from Canadian Tire or recommend someone who can do it without making me want to murder them after?

just curious which shop did you take it to so others can avoid it? Check out Wes R. He does great work and is honest.

I picked up the Porter Cable polisher and Wolfgang products including swirl remover for my Z4 a month ago. I had never done this before and on my very first shot was blown away how easy this was and how amazing the results were. For like $250 you have everything you need to get going and then just a few bucks each year in more product.

Yup. I use a Porter Cable myself. Got a kit with 3 pads off eshine.ca for $185.
I use Menzerna polishes. It's incredibly easy to do yourself. But if you don't want to, contact WesR. He did my car a few years ago.
Here is an example of his work:

And here are some results I did all on my own with the PC:

+1 for trying to do it yourself.
I have the simoniz variable speed orbital and the 3M system (pads & cut/polish, 1,3 & 5).
I'm not a particularly hardcore detailer, and basically learned how to do this on my e30, but if you read instructions well and pay attention, you'll get great results without burning paint.
