HELP!!!! INSTALLED M3 EXHAUST ON 328is E36...car is idleing rough now
hey peeps.
got a good deal on a m3 exhaust for my 1997 e36 328is. Had a huge hole in the supersprint........
anyways, installed and now car runs fine EXCEPT.....every now and than engine sputters and misfires on idle.....you can see the rpm dropping and hear a sputter from teh exhaust.
any ideas????????/

I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks. Then check the coils and plugs.

What exactly did you swap out, cat back or full exhaust?
Could be you have a good leak.

Did you Unplug the vacuum line that goes to the stock 328is exhaust?

I think he is talking about the vaccum line that goes to the dashpot on the muffler to control idle noise. This shouldn't make a difference.
Did you swap the whole exhaust including the cats?

Sounds unrelated to exhaust, an exhaust leak is very unlikely the cause of a drive ability issue. Like doogee said, coils, plugs, vacuum leak.

Just the muffler? That is why I asked what exactly you swapped.
Bro, your issue is not related to a muffler, unless of course that muffler has 5 bananas in it.
