Request for Advice: Should I fix or should I sell

Hey Folks - it has been a while since I've posted - but i'm looking for some advice

I have a 97 M3 and the head gasket started to leak with 290K on the clock. I'm not sure what repairs will be (I'm guessing b/w 1.5 and 2.5K). I recently did a bunch of work and am hesitant to sell (radiator, shocks, springs, clutch, pulleys etc).

The car has 3 rust spots on the body smaller than a dime.

I was told that if I fix the top end and strengthen it is possible the bottom may go. Is this likely?

What would you do? Sell or fix?

Fix it. But make sure your get a quote for the engine repairs, because you can easily pick up a replacement engine with 100-160km for $2500 + $500 to put in it.

Assuming that it's just a direct swap (which it should be) I don't see it taking any more than 4-5 hours for an experienced technician with the proper equipment and tools. 5 hours x $80/hour = $400

Well if a used engine is 2500 then I should go that route. Where doI find used engines?

my buddy just picked up a motor for his 325 at an auto wreckers here for $1000 with 80k on it, so it shouldn't be that expensive

I'm pretty certian I'm going to sell now. what is a what is a reasonable sale price for a 1997 m3 with 290K that needs the head gasket to be replaced.

6-7grand... you might have better luck fixing and selling for 8500ish... 290k is a lot for a m3
