Weird freakish possesed electric problem

I noticed this started to happen a little while back but it was nothing major. I brushed it off as some sort of lose connection. But today this electric problem scared the crap out of me. I was driving and when i hit the brakes my interior lights turned on. I was like WTF bmw?!?! I realized everytime i slammed the brakes my interior light would turn on and when I let go and gassed it would fade away. I decided to turn the interior lights off and drive. When i hit the brakes, though the centre lights remained off, the ones in the foot area turned on. Its kinda annoying to have lights inside turn on everytime i brake. Does anyone have this problem?? is it some sort of a sensor or fuse that has gone bad?? Any advice is appreciated. I dont like driving a possesed car ><

have you checked the bundle of wires where you open the trunk lid? common problem on bimmers with the wires fraying

Sounds like the harness going into the trunk.

Almost like the interior lights are connected to the brake lights.

its a 97. Where exactly r these wires in the trunk and wat am i looking for when i check em?!?

When my electric problems occurred, they were also caused by the trunk harness, its the harness going along side the left hinge that holds the trunk on the car.

Open you trunk and look at the left hinge, you will see couple of wires in black tubing. check every individual wire, for me, when I opened it, i noticed as nice gash right through it. Stupid design really, it gets pinched every time you close your trunk...
