Disposing oil etc...

I should know this but I don't....where do you DIY'ers dispose off your engine oil/brake fluid/transmission oil etc.?

Take it to your local CT or mechanic and leave it outside of their service doors, they'll take care of it for you. They get paid for the used oil, they don't care.

Yeah you can do this, though most of the Canadian Tires have pretty clear signs not to do this. Be careful or you'll get charged for dumping as it is technically illegal.

Most municipalities have certain days or locations where you can take things like batteries, engine oil, antifreeze etc.

The CT's I've taken my oil to don't have signs and I've asked their permission so it's not dumping.

same here, I flag a uniform employee and ask them where and if I can drop off used oil.

They say leave it by the door.

They don't advertise it with sign and as long as you bring reasonnable quantity (i.e: for 1 or 2 car oil change) they are ok.

This sounds kind of stupid but can you mix your old fluids? Like can you put oil and coolant in the same container since it's just going to be disposed of anyways or should you keep it separate?
