^haha ....seriously like everthing else: intake, exhaust, TMS chip is gonna be your cheapest route to get it a bit more responsive and gain some ponies. But don't expect any miraculous gains from a 318.
BEST mod for the $$$ will ALWAYS be the diff!!! Next to a supercharger, the MOST noticable improvment you will get from ANY mod!

True that the 318 doesn't have much potential but answer the guys question....As stated above a decent intake and a chip is the best "start off mod" power wise. After that if you still want to keep going search around you'll find tons of stuff.

It always starts small... Then you add more.. Sometimes its just better to go big off the get go rather than tip toe around minor mods.
A chip and cone filter is the cheaper/easiest solution. I wouldnt do much more than that. I found that was a great boost for the m42. Imo, Anything else isnt worth it. Unless you are adding a turbo, sc, or a 6cyl swap.

It all depends on milage, condition, where you get the parts and who does the job!
If you buy a wrecked 328 for $800 and do the swap yourself, or if you get parts one by one and get a high end shop like Bimmersport or RMP to install it...will be a few $K.
