A few years back the mod to clear corners was one of the most popular things to do. If you owned an e36 it was almost a no brainer. Recently things seem to be trending back towards the oem amber look.
At the end of the day it's all about persoanl preferance

I have one of each, a 318iS with clears and an M3 convertible with ambers... I'll be dumping the ambers for smoked fairly quickly (corners, sides and tails) as soon as it's warm enough to play with plastic pieces outdoors. (I have broken SOOOO many plastic bits by not having the patience to wait until at least April!!!) The difference to me is a real no-brainer. The ambers look like an afterthought. Both of my cars are a similar silver. (one arctic silver, one titanium silver)
