Thought it was worth sharing...

Comparing modded V8 with stock L6 is kinda pointless! lol
Also the turbo motor is easy to mod, and at that point the 4.4 has nothing on it, except cool sound! |
Nice numbers considering the little amount of work.
what is the m60 intake...I thought that the 4.4 didn't really improve with an air intake on it... |

after 335i gets jb3/jb4, forget about it lol |
I owned both vehicles .. stock 2000 540i and 2008 335i.
I think the 335i would be a little faster off the line. |

So that's why the M5 eats 335s so badly.....

you look at a 335i funny and its pushing 4xx whq and 400 whp.
pretty cool how similar they are in those two states but its somewhat of a silly comparo other than "hmm interesting" 335i is also lighter. (335i is far from my favorite car btw) |
I guess my point was that a 10 year newer car isn't always the answer if you were just hoping for something (cheap) and quick.
Interesting nonetheless. |
For sure 540s are dirt cheap sleepers! The performance is in the top percentile of any car available, for under $4,000!
|
LS1/LT1 camaros come to mind also. Not really sleepers, but hey - you can grow a mullet.
|
Yes - but the E39 is really hard to beat if you need some room or 4 doors... I challenge you to install 3 baby seats in a Camaro or Mustang! I think that might fit in the E90?
Can we think of any other cars that have the combination of 4 doors, 8 cyl, 6M gears? G8, S4, S6, CTS-V .... I think these all cost much more than a 540... |
^ Luckily the Camaro/TransAm come standard with rear baby seats.
I think the most expensive 540 I've seen is around 12k. Did all the E39 manuals come with a 6 speed? |
